Trying out Meet Up & Eat Up (Free Summer Meals for Kids)
There is an amazing national program called “MEET UP AND EAT UP” to provide FREE Summer meals to all children.
This may sound too good too be true, the reality is that there are only two criteria:
- Be under the age of 18
- Show up at the Meet Up and Eat Up location nearest you during the designated times for breakfast and/or lunch
Today was the start of the program at the school by us, so I took my two children for both breakfast and lunch. We walked into the cafeteria doors, the kids went through the lunch line, chose their items, and we sat down and ate. Our location also offers adult meals for a low price if the parents want to eat (I’m unsure if this is available at all locations). I took a few pictures to share.
Between the two of them, they had muffins, yogurt, applesauce, milk, and juice
Between the two of them, they had Bosco Sticks, mixed veggies, salad, pears, apple, carrots, and chocolate milk
Our school also had the menu posted for the whole month so you can see what is coming up. I’m unsure if the menu varies by location, but here is the menu for St Clair Shores, MI for June:
The perks of this program are great—nutritious meals, no cost to you, children can socialize with one another, play on the playground afterward—oh and did I mention that you don’t have to cook the meals?!?! I also like that you can use it to get your children to try different things you may not regularly cook at home.
All in all, both meals were a success, and the kids liked the food!
You can find the location nearest you here.
And don’t forget to SHARE this with all of the other parents you know!
